Phillip Plimmer

Masters graduate of the prestigious Royal College of Art in London studying Vehicle Design for two years. Previously attained a 1st class Honors Degree in Product Design taking three years and prior to that a two year HND in Graphic Design, both scholarships were at the University of Wolverhampton.

During study at the RCA I was awarded an internship with Daihatsu in Japan, returning to finish my Masters, after completion a short work experience with Seymour Powell one of UK’s leading Design Consultants, and then onto Automotive design for MG Rover in Southam Warwickshire.

Upon request from Wolverhampton University I ventured into Product Design lecturing to all level’s of students, focusing on design and presentation skills, advancing knowledge in the programs taught and giving confidence to the next generation of creatives.

After lecturing I switched fields into Watch design, it encompassed all the knowledge previously gained, and realized my passion for timepieces. Working for an English distributer Intercity Watch Group in Birmingham, I designing high street fashion labels for three years and finished as a Senior Designer.

Wanting to advance in the watch industry I approached the leaders in my field Fossil group, with success on my side I ventured into the next step of my career to fuel my knowledge. Within nine years I worked in Switzerland, Millan, Hong Kong and Dallas for renowned fashion labels as Emporio Armani, Burberry, Michael Kors and Diesel, eventually climbing the ladder to Associate Creative Director.

From this I took a management role at Movado Group working again with popular brands like Coach, Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger and Scuderia Ferrari. After 15 years in the watch industry I believe its now time to focus on individual projects that I can dedicate my experience and creativity to, paying attention to the real enjoyment in designing multi-disciplinary watches.

I look forward to designing all aspects of time telling with enthusiastic individuals or groups that are associated with the watch industry, developing ideas that are commercial or conceptually strong into realization.
